About this world

Kepler-62 f is a super-Earth orbiting Kepler-62, an orange dwarf (type K2V) 981 light-years from Earth. It is about 1.4 times the size of Earth and holds 35 Earth masses. It completes an orbit every 267 days at 0.72 AU from its star.

Its equilibrium temperature is about 208 K (−65 °C), which places it in the conservative habitable zone: the band where liquid water could exist on a rocky surface. By the "cosmic shoreline", it has likely held on to an atmosphere.

It was discovered in 2013 by transit with Kepler. A planet crosses its star and dims it by a tiny, periodic fraction. Kepler-62 has 5 known planets; the others are Kepler-62 b, Kepler-62 c, Kepler-62 d and Kepler-62 e.
