About this world

Kepler-62 d is a super-Earth orbiting Kepler-62, an orange dwarf (type K2V) 981 light-years from Earth. It is about 1.9 times the size of Earth and holds 14 Earth masses. It completes an orbit every 18.2 days at 0.12 AU from its star, closer than Mercury is to the Sun.

Its equilibrium temperature is about 510 K (237 °C): far too hot for liquid water on its surface. By the "cosmic shoreline", it has likely held on to an atmosphere.

It was discovered in 2013 by transit with Kepler. A planet crosses its star and dims it by a tiny, periodic fraction. Kepler-62 has 5 known planets; the others are Kepler-62 b, Kepler-62 c, Kepler-62 e and Kepler-62 f.
