About this world

HD 219134 d is a super-Earth orbiting HD 219134, an orange dwarf (type K3V) 21.3 light-years from Earth. It is about 1.6 times the size of Earth and holds 16 Earth masses. It completes an orbit every 46.9 days at 0.24 AU from its star, closer than Mercury is to the Sun.

Its equilibrium temperature is about 411 K (137 °C): far too hot for liquid water on its surface. By the "cosmic shoreline", it has likely held on to an atmosphere.

It was discovered in 2015 by radial velocity with Roque de los Muchachos Observatory. The star wobbles toward and away from us, Doppler-shifting its spectrum. HD 219134 has 6 known planets; the others are HD 219134 b, HD 219134 c, HD 219134 f, HD 219134 g and HD 219134 h.
