About this world

WISPIT 2 c is a gas giant orbiting WISPIT 2, an orange dwarf 440 light-years from Earth. It is about 1.6 times the size of Jupiter and holds 10 Jupiter masses.

Its equilibrium temperature is about 2,050 K (1,777 °C): far too hot for liquid water on its surface. At its size it almost certainly keeps a deep envelope of hydrogen and helium.

It was discovered in 2026 by direct imaging with Multiple Observatories. The planet itself is photographed, its star blocked by a coronagraph. WISPIT 2 has 2 known planets; the others are WISPIT 2 b.
