About this world

ups And d is a gas giant orbiting ups And, a yellow-white F-type star (type F8V) 43.7 light-years from Earth. It is about 1.1 times the size of Jupiter (its size estimated from its mass) and holds 10 Jupiter masses. It completes an orbit every 3.49 years at 2.5 AU from its star, on a strongly elongated orbit (e = 0.3).

Its equilibrium temperature is about 234 K (−39 °C), which places it in the conservative habitable zone: the band where liquid water could exist on a rocky surface. At its size it almost certainly keeps a deep envelope of hydrogen and helium.

It was discovered in 1999 by radial velocity with Multiple Observatories. The star wobbles toward and away from us, Doppler-shifting its spectrum. ups And has 3 known planets; the others are ups And b and ups And c.
