About this world

ups And c is a gas giant orbiting ups And, a yellow-white F-type star (type F8V) 43.7 light-years from Earth. It is about 1.1 times the size of Jupiter (its size estimated from its mass) and holds 14 Jupiter masses. It completes an orbit every 241 days at 0.83 AU from its star, on a strongly elongated orbit (e = 0.26).

Its equilibrium temperature is about 408 K (134 °C): far too hot for liquid water on its surface. At its size it almost certainly keeps a deep envelope of hydrogen and helium.

It was discovered in 1999 by radial velocity with Multiple Observatories. The star wobbles toward and away from us, Doppler-shifting its spectrum. ups And has 3 known planets; the others are ups And b and ups And d.
