About this world

Kepler-19 d is a Neptune-like planet orbiting Kepler-19, a yellow, Sun-like star 713 light-years from Earth. It is about 5.1 times the size of Earth (its size estimated from its mass) and holds 23 Earth masses. It completes an orbit every 63 days at 0.3 AU from its star, closer than Mercury is to the Sun.

Its equilibrium temperature is about 461 K (188 °C): far too hot for liquid water on its surface. At its size it almost certainly keeps a deep envelope of hydrogen and helium.

It was discovered in 2017 by radial velocity with Roque de los Muchachos Observatory. The star wobbles toward and away from us, Doppler-shifting its spectrum. Kepler-19 has 3 known planets; the others are Kepler-19 b and Kepler-19 c.
