About this world

Kepler-19 c is a sub-Neptune orbiting Kepler-19, a yellow, Sun-like star 713 light-years from Earth. It is about 3.7 times the size of Earth (its size estimated from its mass) and holds 13 Earth masses. It completes an orbit every 28.7 days at 0.18 AU from its star, closer than Mercury is to the Sun, on a strongly elongated orbit (e = 0.21).

Its equilibrium temperature is about 590 K (316 °C): far too hot for liquid water on its surface. At its size it almost certainly keeps a deep envelope of hydrogen and helium.

It was discovered in 2011 by timing variations with Kepler. Pulsar, eclipse or transit timings drift as an unseen companion tugs on them. Kepler-19 has 3 known planets; the others are Kepler-19 b and Kepler-19 d.
