About this world

WTS-2 b is a gas giant orbiting WTS-2, an orange dwarf (type K2V) 3.36 thousand light-years from Earth. It is about 1.4 times the size of Jupiter and holds 1.1 Jupiter masses. It completes an orbit every 1.02 days at 0.019 AU from its star, closer than Mercury is to the Sun.

Its equilibrium temperature is about 2,000 K (1,727 °C): far too hot for liquid water on its surface. At its size it almost certainly keeps a deep envelope of hydrogen and helium.

It was discovered in 2014 by transit with United Kingdom Infrared Telescope. A planet crosses its star and dims it by a tiny, periodic fraction.
