About this world
WISE J033605.05-014350.4 b is a gas giant orbiting WISE J033605.05-014350.4, a cool red dwarf. It is about 1.1 times the size of Jupiter (its size estimated from its mass) and holds 8.3 Jupiter masses. It completes an orbit every 7.01 years at 0.97 AU from its star.
Its equilibrium temperature is about 325 K (52 °C): too cold for liquid water on its surface. At its size it almost certainly keeps a deep envelope of hydrogen and helium.
It was discovered in 2023 by direct imaging with James Webb Space Telescope (JWST). The planet itself is photographed, its star blocked by a coronagraph.
