About this world

WASP-132 b is a gas giant orbiting WASP-132, an orange dwarf (type K4V) 401 light-years from Earth. It is about 0.9 times the size of Jupiter and holds 0.43 Jupiter masses. It completes an orbit every 7.13 days at 0.067 AU from its star, closer than Mercury is to the Sun.

Its equilibrium temperature is about 682 K (409 °C): far too hot for liquid water on its surface. At its size it almost certainly keeps a deep envelope of hydrogen and helium.

It was discovered in 2016 by transit with SuperWASP-South. A planet crosses its star and dims it by a tiny, periodic fraction. WASP-132 has 3 known planets; the others are WASP-132 c and WASP-132 d.
