About this world

TOI-712 b is a sub-Neptune orbiting TOI-712, an orange dwarf (type K4.5V) 191 light-years from Earth. It is about 2 times the size of Earth. It completes an orbit every 9.53 days at 0.079 AU from its star, closer than Mercury is to the Sun, on a strongly elongated orbit (e = 0.54).

Its equilibrium temperature is about 650 K (377 °C): far too hot for liquid water on its surface. By the "cosmic shoreline", its star has probably stripped its atmosphere away, leaving bare rock.

It was discovered in 2022 by transit with Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS). A planet crosses its star and dims it by a tiny, periodic fraction. TOI-712 has 3 known planets; the others are TOI-712 c and TOI-712 d.
