About this world

TOI-4600 c is a Neptune-like planet orbiting TOI-4600, an orange dwarf (type KV) 705 light-years from Earth. It is about 0.84 times the size of Jupiter and holds 9.3 Jupiter masses. It completes an orbit every 483 days at 1.2 AU from its star, on a strongly elongated orbit (e = 0.21).

Its equilibrium temperature is about 191 K (−82 °C): too cold for liquid water on its surface. At its size it almost certainly keeps a deep envelope of hydrogen and helium.

It was discovered in 2023 by transit with Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS). A planet crosses its star and dims it by a tiny, periodic fraction. TOI-4600 has 2 known planets; the others are TOI-4600 b.
