About this world

TOI-4010 e is a gas giant orbiting TOI-4010, an orange dwarf (type KV) 579 light-years from Earth. It is about 1.2 times the size of Jupiter (its size estimated from its mass), with at least 2.2 Jupiter masses (a minimum, measured by radial velocity). It completes an orbit every 2.09 years at 1.6 AU from its star, on a strongly elongated orbit (e = 0.26).

Its equilibrium temperature is about 174 K (−99 °C): too cold for liquid water on its surface. At its size it almost certainly keeps a deep envelope of hydrogen and helium.

It was discovered in 2023 by radial velocity with Roque de los Muchachos Observatory. The star wobbles toward and away from us, Doppler-shifting its spectrum. TOI-4010 has 4 known planets; the others are TOI-4010 b, TOI-4010 c and TOI-4010 d.
