About this world

TOI-2445 b is a super-Earth orbiting TOI-2445, a cool red dwarf 158 light-years from Earth. It is about 1.3 times the size of Earth. It completes an orbit every 8.91 hours at 0.0064 AU from its star, closer than Mercury is to the Sun.

Its equilibrium temperature is about 1,060 K (787 °C): far too hot for liquid water on its surface. By the "cosmic shoreline", its star has probably stripped its atmosphere away, leaving bare rock. Its atmosphere has already been studied in one spectroscopic observation by the James Webb Space Telescope.

It was discovered in 2022 by transit with Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS). A planet crosses its star and dims it by a tiny, periodic fraction.
