About this world

TOI-238 c is a sub-Neptune orbiting TOI-238, an orange dwarf (type K2V) 263 light-years from Earth. It is about 2.2 times the size of Earth and holds 6.7 Earth masses. It completes an orbit every 8.47 days at 0.075 AU from its star, closer than Mercury is to the Sun, on a strongly elongated orbit (e = 0.36).

Its equilibrium temperature is about 696 K (423 °C): far too hot for liquid water on its surface. By the "cosmic shoreline", its star has probably stripped its atmosphere away, leaving bare rock.

It was discovered in 2024 by radial velocity with Multiple Observatories. The star wobbles toward and away from us, Doppler-shifting its spectrum. TOI-238 has 2 known planets; the others are TOI-238 b.
