About this world

TOI-2285 b is a super-Earth orbiting TOI-2285, a cool red dwarf 138 light-years from Earth. It is about 1.8 times the size of Earth and holds 20 Earth masses. It completes an orbit every 13.6 days at 0.14 AU from its star, closer than Mercury is to the Sun, on a strongly elongated orbit (e = 0.3).

Its equilibrium temperature is about 358 K (85 °C): too cold for liquid water on its surface. By the "cosmic shoreline", it has likely held on to an atmosphere.

It was discovered in 2021 by transit with Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS). A planet crosses its star and dims it by a tiny, periodic fraction.
