About this world

TOI-1338 c is a gas giant orbiting TOI-1338 A, a yellow-white F-type star (type F8) 1.3 thousand light-years from Earth. It is about 0.92 times the size of Jupiter (its size estimated from its mass) and holds 0.24 Jupiter masses. It completes an orbit every 216 days at 0.79 AU from its star.

Its equilibrium temperature is about 355 K (82 °C): too cold for liquid water on its surface. At its size it almost certainly keeps a deep envelope of hydrogen and helium.

It was discovered in 2023 by radial velocity with Multiple Observatories. The star wobbles toward and away from us, Doppler-shifting its spectrum. TOI-1338 A has 2 known planets; the others are TOI-1338 b.
