About this world

TIC 279401253 c is a gas giant orbiting TIC 279401253, a yellow, Sun-like star 931 light-years from Earth. It is about 1.1 times the size of Jupiter (its size estimated from its mass), with at least 8 Jupiter masses (a minimum, measured by radial velocity). It completes an orbit every 155 days at 0.59 AU from its star, on a strongly elongated orbit (e = 0.25).

Its equilibrium temperature is about 384 K (111 °C): too cold for liquid water on its surface. At its size it almost certainly keeps a deep envelope of hydrogen and helium.

It was discovered in 2023 by transit with Multiple Observatories. A planet crosses its star and dims it by a tiny, periodic fraction. TIC 279401253 has 2 known planets; the others are TIC 279401253 b.
