About this world

TIC 241249530 b is a gas giant orbiting TIC 241249530, a yellow-white F-type star 1.06 thousand light-years from Earth. It is about 1.2 times the size of Jupiter and holds 5 Jupiter masses. It completes an orbit every 166 days at 0.64 AU from its star, on a strongly elongated orbit (e = 0.94).

Its equilibrium temperature is about 439 K (166 °C): far too hot for liquid water on its surface. At its size it almost certainly keeps a deep envelope of hydrogen and helium.

It was discovered in 2024 by transit with Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS). A planet crosses its star and dims it by a tiny, periodic fraction.
