About this world

PSR J2322-2650 b is a gas giant orbiting PSR J2322-2650, a star 750 light-years from Earth. It is about 1.2 times the size of Jupiter (its size estimated from its mass), with at least 0.79 Jupiter masses (a minimum, measured by radial velocity). It completes an orbit every 7.75 hours at 0.01 AU from its star, closer than Mercury is to the Sun.

At its size it almost certainly keeps a deep envelope of hydrogen and helium. Its atmosphere has already been studied: 4 spectroscopic observations.

It was discovered in 2017 by timing variations with Parkes Observatory. Pulsar, eclipse or transit timings drift as an unseen companion tugs on them.
