About this world

PSR J1719-1438 b is a gas giant orbiting PSR J1719-1438, an orange dwarf 3.91 thousand light-years from Earth. It is about 1.2 times the size of Jupiter (its size estimated from its mass) and holds 1.2 Jupiter masses. It completes an orbit every 2.18 hours at 0.0044 AU from its star, closer than Mercury is to the Sun.

At its size it almost certainly keeps a deep envelope of hydrogen and helium.

It was discovered in 2011 by timing variations with Parkes Observatory. Pulsar, eclipse or transit timings drift as an unseen companion tugs on them.
