About this world

Pr0211 b is a gas giant orbiting Pr0211, a yellow, Sun-like star 596 light-years from Earth. It is about 1.2 times the size of Jupiter (its size estimated from its mass), with at least 1.9 Jupiter masses (a minimum, measured by radial velocity). It completes an orbit every 2.15 days at 0.032 AU from its star, closer than Mercury is to the Sun.

Its equilibrium temperature is about 1,304 K (1,031 °C): far too hot for liquid water on its surface. At its size it almost certainly keeps a deep envelope of hydrogen and helium.

It was discovered in 2012 by radial velocity with Fred Lawrence Whipple Observatory. The star wobbles toward and away from us, Doppler-shifting its spectrum. Pr0211 has 2 known planets; the others are Pr0211 c.
