About this world

PH2 b is a Neptune-like planet orbiting PH2, a yellow, Sun-like star (type G3) 1.12 thousand light-years from Earth. It is about 0.83 times the size of Jupiter and holds 0.27 Jupiter masses. It completes an orbit every 283 days at 0.83 AU from its star, on a strongly elongated orbit (e = 0.21).

Its equilibrium temperature is about 295 K (22 °C), which places it in the optimistic habitable zone: the band where liquid water could exist on a rocky surface. At its size it almost certainly keeps a deep envelope of hydrogen and helium. Its atmosphere has already been studied in one spectroscopic observation by the James Webb Space Telescope.

It was discovered in 2013 by transit with Kepler. A planet crosses its star and dims it by a tiny, periodic fraction.
