About this world

mu2 Sco b is a gas giant orbiting mu2 Sco, a hot blue star (type B2IV). It is about 1.1 times the size of Jupiter (its size estimated from its mass) and holds 14 Jupiter masses.

Its equilibrium temperature is about 159 K (−114 °C): too cold for liquid water on its surface. At its size it almost certainly keeps a deep envelope of hydrogen and helium.

It was discovered in 2022 by direct imaging with Paranal Observatory. The planet itself is photographed, its star blocked by a coronagraph.
