About this world

MOA-2007-BLG-400L b is a gas giant orbiting MOA-2007-BLG-400L, a star 22.5 thousand light-years from Earth. It is about 1.2 times the size of Jupiter (its size estimated from its mass) and holds 1.7 Jupiter masses.

Its equilibrium temperature is about 34 K (−239 °C): too cold for liquid water on its surface. At its size it almost certainly keeps a deep envelope of hydrogen and helium.

It was discovered in 2008 by microlensing with MOA. A foreground star's gravity magnifies a background star; a planet adds a blip.
