About this world

KOINTREAU-1 b is a gas giant orbiting XEST 17-036, a giant star (type M4) 517 light-years from Earth. It is about 1.1 times the size of Jupiter (its size estimated from its mass) and holds 11 Jupiter masses.

At its size it almost certainly keeps a deep envelope of hydrogen and helium.

It was discovered in 2026 by direct imaging with W. M. Keck Observatory. The planet itself is photographed, its star blocked by a coronagraph.
