About this world

KOI-94 b is a super-Earth orbiting KOI-94, a yellow-white F-type star 1.56 thousand light-years from Earth. It is about 1.7 times the size of Earth and holds 11 Earth masses. It completes an orbit every 3.74 days at 0.051 AU from its star, closer than Mercury is to the Sun, on a strongly elongated orbit (e = 0.25).

Its equilibrium temperature is about 1,486 K (1,213 °C): far too hot for liquid water on its surface. By the "cosmic shoreline", its star has probably stripped its atmosphere away, leaving bare rock.

It was discovered in 2013 by transit with Kepler. A planet crosses its star and dims it by a tiny, periodic fraction. KOI-94 has 4 known planets; the others are KOI-94 c, KOI-94 d and KOI-94 e.
