About this world

KOI-55 c is an Earth-sized planet orbiting KOI-55, a hot blue star (type B) 4.02 thousand light-years from Earth. It is about 0.87 times the size of Earth and holds 0.66 Earth masses. It completes an orbit every 8.23 hours at 0.0076 AU from its star, closer than Mercury is to the Sun.

Its equilibrium temperature is about 6,911 K (6,638 °C): far too hot for liquid water on its surface. By the "cosmic shoreline", its star has probably stripped its atmosphere away, leaving bare rock.

It was discovered in 2011 by other methods with Kepler. Astrometry, orbital brightness modulation and disk kinematics. KOI-55 has 2 known planets; the others are KOI-55 b.
