About this world

KOI-319 c is a gas giant orbiting KOI-319, a yellow, Sun-like star 2.15 thousand light-years from Earth. It is about 1.1 times the size of Jupiter (its size estimated from its mass) and holds 28 Jupiter masses. It completes an orbit every 80.1 days at 0.4 AU from its star.

Its equilibrium temperature is about 667 K (393 °C): far too hot for liquid water on its surface. At its size it almost certainly keeps a deep envelope of hydrogen and helium.

It was discovered in 2014 by timing variations with Kepler. Pulsar, eclipse or transit timings drift as an unseen companion tugs on them. KOI-319 has 2 known planets; the others are KOI-319 b.
