About this world

KOI-1599.01 is a super-Earth orbiting KOI-1599, a yellow, Sun-like star 3.69 thousand light-years from Earth. It is about 1.9 times the size of Earth and holds 4.6 Earth masses. It completes an orbit every 20.4 days at 0.15 AU from its star, closer than Mercury is to the Sun.

Its equilibrium temperature is about 660 K (387 °C): far too hot for liquid water on its surface. By the "cosmic shoreline", its star has probably stripped its atmosphere away, leaving bare rock.

It was discovered in 2019 by transit with Kepler. A planet crosses its star and dims it by a tiny, periodic fraction. KOI-1599 has 2 known planets; the others are KOI-1599.02.
