About this world

Kepler-92 d is a sub-Neptune orbiting Kepler-92, a yellow, Sun-like star 1.56 thousand light-years from Earth. It is about 2.1 times the size of Earth, with at least 12 Earth masses (a minimum, measured by radial velocity). It completes an orbit every 49.4 days at 0.29 AU from its star, closer than Mercury is to the Sun.

Its equilibrium temperature is about 637 K (364 °C): far too hot for liquid water on its surface. By the "cosmic shoreline", it has likely held on to an atmosphere.

It was discovered in 2015 by transit with Kepler. A planet crosses its star and dims it by a tiny, periodic fraction. Kepler-92 has 3 known planets; the others are Kepler-92 b and Kepler-92 c.
