About this world

Kepler-453 b is a Neptune-like planet orbiting Kepler-453, a yellow, Sun-like star 1.44 thousand light-years from Earth. It is about 0.55 times the size of Jupiter and holds 0.05 Jupiter masses. It completes an orbit every 241 days at 0.79 AU from its star.

Its equilibrium temperature is about 274 K (0 °C), which places it in the conservative habitable zone: the band where liquid water could exist on a rocky surface. At its size it almost certainly keeps a deep envelope of hydrogen and helium.

It was discovered in 2015 by transit with Kepler. A planet crosses its star and dims it by a tiny, periodic fraction.
