About this world

Kepler-448 c is a gas giant orbiting KOI-12, a yellow-white F-type star 1.3 thousand light-years from Earth. It is about 1.1 times the size of Jupiter (its size estimated from its mass) and holds 22 Jupiter masses. It completes an orbit every 6.84 years at 4.2 AU from its star, on a strongly elongated orbit (e = 0.65).

Its equilibrium temperature is about 185 K (−88 °C): too cold for liquid water on its surface. At its size it almost certainly keeps a deep envelope of hydrogen and helium.

It was discovered in 2017 by timing variations with Kepler. Pulsar, eclipse or transit timings drift as an unseen companion tugs on them. KOI-12 has 2 known planets; the others are KOI-12 b.
