About this world

Kepler-419 c is a gas giant orbiting Kepler-419, a yellow-white F-type star (type F) 3.3 thousand light-years from Earth. It is about 1.1 times the size of Jupiter (its size estimated from its mass) and holds 7.3 Jupiter masses. It completes an orbit every 675 days at 1.7 AU from its star.

Its equilibrium temperature is about 316 K (42 °C), which places it in the optimistic habitable zone: the band where liquid water could exist on a rocky surface. At its size it almost certainly keeps a deep envelope of hydrogen and helium.

It was discovered in 2014 by timing variations with Kepler. Pulsar, eclipse or transit timings drift as an unseen companion tugs on them. Kepler-419 has 2 known planets; the others are Kepler-419 b.
