About this world

Kepler-30 c is a gas giant orbiting Kepler-30, a yellow, Sun-like star 2.98 thousand light-years from Earth. It is about 1.1 times the size of Jupiter and holds 2 Jupiter masses. It completes an orbit every 60.3 days at 0.3 AU from its star, closer than Mercury is to the Sun.

Its equilibrium temperature is about 411 K (138 °C): far too hot for liquid water on its surface. At its size it almost certainly keeps a deep envelope of hydrogen and helium.

It was discovered in 2012 by transit with Kepler. A planet crosses its star and dims it by a tiny, periodic fraction. Kepler-30 has 3 known planets; the others are Kepler-30 b and Kepler-30 d.
