About this world

Kepler-281 d is a Neptune-like planet orbiting Kepler-281, a yellow, Sun-like star 5.69 thousand light-years from Earth. It is about 5.9 times the size of Earth and holds 650 Earth masses. It completes an orbit every 148 days at 0.55 AU from its star.

Its equilibrium temperature is about 321 K (48 °C): too cold for liquid water on its surface. At its size it almost certainly keeps a deep envelope of hydrogen and helium.

It was discovered in 2021 by transit with Kepler. A planet crosses its star and dims it by a tiny, periodic fraction. Kepler-281 has 3 known planets; the others are Kepler-281 b and Kepler-281 c.
