About this world

Kepler-160 d is a gas giant orbiting Kepler-160, a yellow, Sun-like star 3.06 thousand light-years from Earth. It is about 1.1 times the size of Jupiter (its size estimated from its mass) and holds 0.31 Jupiter masses. It completes an orbit every 30 days at 0.17 AU from its star, closer than Mercury is to the Sun.

Its equilibrium temperature is about 677 K (403 °C): far too hot for liquid water on its surface. At its size it almost certainly keeps a deep envelope of hydrogen and helium.

It was discovered in 2020 by timing variations with Kepler. Pulsar, eclipse or transit timings drift as an unseen companion tugs on them. Kepler-160 has 3 known planets; the others are Kepler-160 b and Kepler-160 c.
