About this world

Kepler-11 g is a sub-Neptune orbiting Kepler-11, a yellow, Sun-like star 2.11 thousand light-years from Earth. It is about 3.3 times the size of Earth and holds 25 Earth masses. It completes an orbit every 118 days at 0.47 AU from its star.

Its equilibrium temperature is about 376 K (103 °C): too cold for liquid water on its surface. At its size it almost certainly keeps a deep envelope of hydrogen and helium.

It was discovered in 2010 by transit with Kepler. A planet crosses its star and dims it by a tiny, periodic fraction. Kepler-11 has 6 known planets; the others are Kepler-11 b, Kepler-11 c, Kepler-11 d, Kepler-11 e and Kepler-11 f.
