About this world

Kepler-100 d is a super-Earth orbiting Kepler-100, a yellow, Sun-like star 994 light-years from Earth. It is about 1.6 times the size of Earth and holds 3 Earth masses. It completes an orbit every 35.3 days at 0.22 AU from its star, closer than Mercury is to the Sun, on a strongly elongated orbit (e = 0.38).

Its equilibrium temperature is about 670 K (397 °C): far too hot for liquid water on its surface. By the "cosmic shoreline", its star has probably stripped its atmosphere away, leaving bare rock.

It was discovered in 2014 by transit with Kepler. A planet crosses its star and dims it by a tiny, periodic fraction. Kepler-100 has 4 known planets; the others are Kepler-100 b, Kepler-100 c and Kepler-100 e.
