About this world

KELT-6 b is a gas giant orbiting KELT-6, a yellow-white F-type star (type F8) 785 light-years from Earth. It is about 1.3 times the size of Jupiter and holds 0.52 Jupiter masses. It completes an orbit every 7.85 days at 0.079 AU from its star, closer than Mercury is to the Sun, on a strongly elongated orbit (e = 0.22).

Its equilibrium temperature is about 1,313 K (1,040 °C): far too hot for liquid water on its surface. At its size it almost certainly keeps a deep envelope of hydrogen and helium.

It was discovered in 2014 by transit with KELT. A planet crosses its star and dims it by a tiny, periodic fraction. KELT-6 has 2 known planets; the others are KELT-6 c.
