About this world

KELT-19 A b is a gas giant orbiting KELT-19 A, a white A-type star (type A8V) 979 light-years from Earth. It is about 1.9 times the size of Jupiter and holds 4.1 Jupiter masses. It completes an orbit every 4.61 days at 0.064 AU from its star, closer than Mercury is to the Sun.

Its equilibrium temperature is about 1,935 K (1,662 °C): far too hot for liquid water on its surface. At its size it almost certainly keeps a deep envelope of hydrogen and helium.

It was discovered in 2017 by transit with KELT. A planet crosses its star and dims it by a tiny, periodic fraction.
