About this world

HU Aqr AB b is a gas giant orbiting HU Aqr, a yellow, Sun-like star 627 light-years from Earth. It is about 1.1 times the size of Jupiter (its size estimated from its mass), with at least 5.9 Jupiter masses (a minimum, measured by radial velocity). It completes an orbit every 6.54 years at 3.6 AU from its star.

At its size it almost certainly keeps a deep envelope of hydrogen and helium.

It was discovered in 2011 by timing variations with Yunnan Astronomical Observatory. Pulsar, eclipse or transit timings drift as an unseen companion tugs on them. HU Aqr has 2 known planets; the others are HU Aqr AB c.
