About this world

HIP 29442 d is a super-Earth orbiting TOI-469, a yellow, Sun-like star 222 light-years from Earth. It is about 1.5 times the size of Earth and holds 5.1 Earth masses. It completes an orbit every 6.43 days at 0.067 AU from its star, closer than Mercury is to the Sun.

Its equilibrium temperature is about 920 K (647 °C): far too hot for liquid water on its surface. By the "cosmic shoreline", its star has probably stripped its atmosphere away, leaving bare rock.

It was discovered in 2023 by radial velocity with Paranal Observatory. The star wobbles toward and away from us, Doppler-shifting its spectrum. TOI-469 has 3 known planets; the others are HIP 29442 c and TOI-469.01.
