About this world

HD 97048 b is a gas giant orbiting HD 97048, a hot blue star (type BE9.5/A) 600 light-years from Earth. It is about 1.2 times the size of Jupiter (its size estimated from its mass) and holds 2.5 Jupiter masses.

Its equilibrium temperature is about 63 K (−210 °C): too cold for liquid water on its surface. At its size it almost certainly keeps a deep envelope of hydrogen and helium.

It was discovered in 2019 by other methods with Atacama Large Millimeter Array (ALMA). Astrometry, orbital brightness modulation and disk kinematics.
