About this world

HD 63433 b is a sub-Neptune orbiting HD 63433, a yellow, Sun-like star (type G5V) 73.1 light-years from Earth. It is about 2.1 times the size of Earth and holds 22 Earth masses. It completes an orbit every 7.11 days at 0.072 AU from its star, closer than Mercury is to the Sun, on a strongly elongated orbit (e = 0.24).

Its equilibrium temperature is about 967 K (694 °C): far too hot for liquid water on its surface. By the "cosmic shoreline", it has likely held on to an atmosphere.

It was discovered in 2020 by transit with Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS). A planet crosses its star and dims it by a tiny, periodic fraction. HD 63433 has 3 known planets; the others are HD 63433 d and HD 63433 c.
