About this world

HD 27894 d is a gas giant orbiting HD 27894, an orange dwarf (type K2V) 143 light-years from Earth. It is about 1.1 times the size of Jupiter (its size estimated from its mass) and holds 6.5 Jupiter masses. It completes an orbit every 13.7 years at 5.4 AU from its star, on a strongly elongated orbit (e = 0.34).

Its equilibrium temperature is about 96 K (−177 °C): too cold for liquid water on its surface. At its size it almost certainly keeps a deep envelope of hydrogen and helium.

It was discovered in 2017 by radial velocity with La Silla Observatory. The star wobbles toward and away from us, Doppler-shifting its spectrum. HD 27894 has 3 known planets; the others are HD 27894 b and HD 27894 c.
