About this world

HD 224018 b is an Earth-sized planet orbiting HD 224018, a yellow, Sun-like star (type GV) 344 light-years from Earth. It is about 0.91 times the size of Earth and holds 4.1 Earth masses. It completes an orbit every 10.6 days at 0.095 AU from its star, closer than Mercury is to the Sun.

Its equilibrium temperature is about 968 K (695 °C): far too hot for liquid water on its surface. By the "cosmic shoreline", its star has probably stripped its atmosphere away, leaving bare rock.

It was discovered in 2025 by radial velocity with Roque de los Muchachos Observatory. The star wobbles toward and away from us, Doppler-shifting its spectrum. HD 224018 has 3 known planets; the others are HD 224018 c and HD 224018 d.
