About this world

HD 206893 b is a gas giant orbiting HD 206893, a yellow-white F-type star (type F5V) 133 light-years from Earth. It is about 1.2 times the size of Jupiter and holds 20 Jupiter masses. It completes an orbit every 30.4 years at 11 AU from its star.

Its equilibrium temperature is about 1,429 K (1,156 °C): far too hot for liquid water on its surface. At its size it almost certainly keeps a deep envelope of hydrogen and helium.

It was discovered in 2021 by direct imaging with Gemini Observatory. The planet itself is photographed, its star blocked by a coronagraph. HD 206893 has 2 known planets; the others are HD 206893 c.
