About this world

GU Psc b is a gas giant orbiting GU Psc, a cool red dwarf (type M3) 155 light-years from Earth. It is about 1.3 times the size of Jupiter and holds 11 Jupiter masses.

Its equilibrium temperature is about 1,050 K (777 °C): far too hot for liquid water on its surface. At its size it almost certainly keeps a deep envelope of hydrogen and helium.

It was discovered in 2014 by direct imaging with Gemini Observatory. The planet itself is photographed, its star blocked by a coronagraph.
